Technical FAQs

1. Can I use my Prezlock on checked baggage during air travel?

Prezlock can be used for many general purposes as suggested on our websites. It can be attached to your personal baggage or backpack for temporary security purposes; however, it cannot be used on checked baggage for air travel because it is not a TSA approved padlock.

2. Can Prezlock be unlocked by a mobile phone?

Prezlock locks are not mobile phone compatible. Our Prezlock Vivid only unlocks by fingerprint or Shackle Press Pattern (SPP) and has no wireless or phone connection functions, and our Prezlock Pebble can be unlocked by fingerprints or supplied back up keys.

3. Is Prezlock waterproof?

The Prezlock Vivid is not designed to be waterproof or submerged in water but does have a protective coating on the main circuit board so as to safeguard inner electronic components against daily water moisture from the air. Our Prezlock Pebble is rated IP65, which is meant to resist water (rain included) in a short period of time, as long as the shackle is in closing position, and the fingerprint sensor is turned away from direct rain drops.

4. Will the Prezlock still function if it is dropped into water?

If a Prezlock is submerged into water for a long time, it most likely will not function properly. If the submerged time, while the lock is closed, is short, we advise drying the lock with towels before opening the lock. If the lock still does not operate, we advise drying it by hair dryer or leaving it in a ventilated area to air dry.

5. How does Prezlock Vivid unlock with Shackle Press Pattern (SPP)?

The SPP is the secondary, manual way to unlock your Prezlock Vivid. Prezlock Vivid’s SPP is a self-set patterned sequence of ten long and short presses on the shackle, which is set up as an unlocking pattern by and for the MASTER user. When creating your pattern, keep in mind that SHORT presses do not exceed two seconds and LONG presses will be over two seconds. SHORT presses will flash a green LED light and LONG presses will flash a blue LED light after a short green flash. Each Prezlock allows one SPP with 10 presses. For example, to set a SPP for the MASTER user, one can press the shackle down against the lock as: long, long, long, short, short, long, short, long, long, long. ( ___, ___, ___, _, _, ___, _, ___, ___, ___ ) Once the pattern is stored, the user can use this as an alternative method to open the lock.

6. How many fingerprints can be installed in a Prezlock?

Our Vivid holds maximum 25 units of fingerprint, including a MASTER fingerprint (total of 25). Our Pebble holds maximum 100 fingerprints, including a MASTER fingerprint (total of 100).

7. How long does a Prezlock take to unlock using the Fingerprint Sensor?

It depends on the amount of fingerprints installed. For Vivids, if one to five prints are loaded, it takes just 0.7 seconds from the time your finger touches the pad to the time the mechanism unlocks. For a lock installed with up to 25 fingerprints, it may take a maximum of 1.2 seconds to unlock. For Pebbles, it takes 0.9 second to open if lock registered with 1 to 50 fingerprints, and about 1.0 seconds for 51 fingerprints or more registered.

8. What if the Fingerprint Sensor is not working properly or damaged?

The Fingerprint Sensor Prezlock adopts is the same as that used in mobile phones. The property of the sensor itself is resistant to impact, highly durable and very sensitive. In the case of being scratched by a cutter, it will still read a fingerprint properly. However, if it is damaged in other cases, users may use SPP to unlock a Vivid or use back up keys to unlock a Pebble. It is advised to dry the fingers and fingerprint sensor for optimum operation.

9. Will Prezlock still recognize my fingerprint if it is injured or messy?

If a cut on the finger is minor, the sensor may still be able to read the fingerprint and open as usual. If the damaged area is major, then use another recorded finger to unlock. If the hand is covered by grease or is wet, simply clean and dry the finger(s) then try again.

10. If my Prezlock is stolen or lost, will my fingerprint still be safe?

Generally speaking, if a Prezlock is stolen, the fingerprints installed are still safe, because they are recorded and stored in Micro Processor and the data cannot not be exported and shared with other third parties. The fingerprint is stored in encrypted data format and is processed only by a unique algorithm in the Micro Processor developed by the fingerprint module provider. Your fingerprint is used exclusively on your individual padlock only. Therefore, fingerprints stored in the lock cannot be retrieved or de-coded by any other party.

11. Are there ways to stop someone from damaging or tampering with the sensor?

The sensor itself is resilient, resistant to impacts and usual scratches, highly unbreakable and highly durable. It is firmly framed in the lock surface, so it cannot be easily removed or damaged provided that its lock body is kept intact.

12. Can the lock be picked?

The mechanism of our Vivid is different from your standard combination or key lock, security cannot be compromised through a simple set of picks. Our Pebble is installed with sophisticated wafer cylinder which has high security and difficult to pick.

13. Can a Prezlock be shared with others?

A Prezlock can be shared with other users. When sharing with your family members or friends, please refer to “set other fingerprints” in the instruction manual whereby their fingerprints can be loaded into the Prezlock.

14. How can a previously installed fingerprint be deleted in Prezlock?

Deleting previously installed fingerprints can only be done by the MASTER user, please refer to “Delete other fingerprints” in the instruction manual whereby all fingerprints will be deleted except for the MASTER fingerprint. When you need to set a new fingerprint, please refer to “Set other fingerprints” in the manual.

15. How long does the battery last?

Thanks to a high power-saving design, the Prezlock does not consume power in sleeping mode. For each full charge, the lock can be opened up to a thousand times or months of use.

16. Why is there a continuously blinking red light when I try to unlock my lock?

When the battery is extremely low on the Prezlock Vivid, a continuous blinking red light for about 5 seconds is given as a warning. In this case, once the blinking stops, use a recorded fingerprint to re-press the shackle and sensor again within 10 seconds and the lock will open. It is suggested that when this occurs, the lock should be recharged shortly to restore normal performance. On the Prezlock Pebble, when the battery is extremely low, a red light will flash continuously for about 5 seconds as a warning after a recorded fingerprint press on the sensor. In this case, the lock will still be open. It is recommended that when this occurs, the lock should be charged as soon as possible to restore normal performance.

17. What if my Prezlock runs out of battery life?

If the battery is totally empty causing the lock to fail to operate no lights and no reaction- the lock can be re-started immediately by connecting an external battery to the micro-USB port via a cable provided in the Prezlock package. Once the lock is opened, it should be recharged as usual.

18. In case the battery fully runs out, what happens to my loaded fingerprints and SPP?

All settings will be kept in memory chip of the Micro Processor, so there will be no loss of any settings even when the battery is exhausted.

19. How long does it take for a Prezlock to be fully charged?

It may take one to two hours to fully charge the lock. Prezlock is equipped with a standard Micro USB or Type-C port (depends on models) for charging. The lock applies the same charging equipment as that of smart phones in the market and can be charged the same way a mobile phone is charged. However, for the sake of charging safety, Prezlocks are equipped with a limiting current device in the circuit board.

20. What can I do if the Vivid shackle does not lock when pushed?

The Prezlock Vivid can be manually fixed if the shackle operates abnormally and is not locking when pushed. While placing a registered fingerprint firmly on the Fingerprint Sensor, use a 2mm diameter tool (not provided) to push the switch inside the Shackle hole once. When a green LED light appears and a click is heard, the locking mechanism has been successfully restored to its usual operational function. For Prezlock Pebble, not applicable.

We offer free shipping on orders amount of $22 or more, for orders less than $22, we charge a $5 shipping fee.

2. How do I track my order?

It usually takes 4-7 Business days with our free standard shipping.

4. Do you ship internationally?

We offer standard shipping to the United States. Other countries are unavailable at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Return and refund

1. What is your return policy?

We provide to our User a 30 day money back guarantee. In order to apply for Return under 30 day money back guarantee, you will have to fill out the Return/Refund form by entering your order number and Billing Zip Code. The Return and Refund(s) will only be provided for unused and undamaged products packed in the manner at the time of initial delivery of the Products. If the Products have been used and damaged by you, then we shall offer no Return and Refund on the said product. The products should be in the original condition as they were at the time of delivery in order to be eligible for the Return and Refund.

2. What are the return eligibility criteria?

All requests for Refund should be provided to us by completing Return Form.
We provide the Refund/Return using the same means of payment as the User used to pay, unless the User expressly agrees otherwise.

3. How long will my return take?

Within 14 Business Days of the date of Return Form receipt, we shall contact the User to request further information (if required) and the User shall provide such information as soon as reasonably practicable but, in any case, no later than 30 days following such request. Full amount will be refunded including the product price, shipping fee and handling fee, etc. The fund of the Return amount will be credited back to the source of payment.

4. How to cancel an order?

Orders for in-stock items are sent to our warehouse for shipping immediately after you place the order, therefore, in-stock items cannot be cancelled.
To request cancellation of a pre-ordered product, please contact us. Please note, you will not be charged for a pre-order until it ships.

5. Any charges for the return?

Any charges, which arise upon processing Refund/Return, shall be borne solely by the User. Such charges will be deducted from the final amount of Refund/Return.

This Refund Policy will be amended from time to time if there is any change in the legislation. Terms and conditions of the Refund Policy are subject to change by us and, in the case of any amendments, we will make an appropriate announcement. The changes will apply after we have given notice.

If the User does not wish to accept the revised Refund and Return Policy, he/she should not continue to use our Services. If the User continues to use the Services after the date on which the change comes into effect, his/her use of the Services will be bound by the new Refund Policy and Return.

Product warranty policy

PREZLOCK OFFERS A LIMITED WARRANTY ON ITS PRODUCTS. IF OUR PRODUCT FAILS DUE TO A DEFECT IN MATERIALS OR WORKMANSHIP AT ANY TIME DURING THE 12 MONTH PERIOD FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE, PREZLOCK WILL REPAIR OR REPLACE THE PRODUCT OR PART FREE OF CHARGE, AND THIS REPAIR/REPLACEMENT SHALL FULFILL THE REST OF THE ORIGINAL ONE YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD. THIS WARRANTY IS LIMITED TO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT ONLY AND REFUND IS NOT AVAILABLE.

You can make purchases on the website as Guest user and will have to provide your shipping address and other contact details for shipment of the products each time you make a purchase.
